AN INTRODUCTION TO ZINESCENE
(for the benefit of fanzine editors and web-site owners)
WHAT DO WE DO?
We buy and sell fanzines of all types, but mostly
football. We deal in mail order only from our postal address in
Scotland. We produce a catalogue every month from September to June
(we have a wee summer break but we are not closed). Our catalogue
contains three main sections.
1. Current Fanzine titles
We would dearly like to stock at least some copies
of every fanzine currently available during the 2000/2001 season. We
have succeeded to some degree, but we are always looking for new titles
2. Old fanzine titles
We buy unwanted fanzines and sell them on our old
list. This list contains some rare issues, and some downright crap
issues, it's a bit of a mixture. Prices range from 5 pence to 5
pounds. The list is split into English League, English non League,
Scottish League, Scottish non League, Foreign, Irish and General.
Additionally there are a few fanzine titles relating to miscellaneous
sports like US football, Rugby and Cricket.
3. Bargain bundles
Many editors (and collectors for that matter) have
surplus issues which they will never sell. We take these surplus and
put them into bundles which we are then able to sell at a cheap rate.
There are currently over 20 different bundles available
WHAT TERMS ARE AVAILABLE?
There are 3 choices. Our preferred choice is for
you to send no more than six copies of each issue and we pay you 50%
of your cover price up front (ie before we sell them). Our next
choice would be to swap fanzines on our current list for several
copies of your newest issue. Third choice is sale or return (25%).
The choice is up to you.
WILL WE DISPLAY YOUR FANZINE ON YOUR PAGES?
Our web site displays the front covers of several
fanzines, and our main page which displays our current titles also
has links to special pages devoted to one team. Yes - we will make
your fanzine cover prominent as long as you to two things for us.
Firstly, you have to be dealing with us mail order, and secondly we
would like you to put a link in your page to this site (if you have a web-site).
SOUNDS GOOD, BUT I CAN'T BE BOTHERED WITH THE
HASSLE OF MAIL ORDER
Why not send one or two complimentary copies to us
whenever your fanzine comes out? This will allow us to update our
pages and scan your front cover in. You will get the coverage without
the hassle
WE BUY UNWANTED FANZINES
The important term here is UNWANTED. If you have a
collection for sale and you are looking to sell them for half cover
price - forget it. The going rate for an unseen collection is 5p each
- none refused. We will pay all your carriage costs provided you use
parcelforce and big packages. There are however, some fanzines which
we may pay up to 10p for, and there are a small few which are worth
15p. Please don't send a collection unless you agree to these terms.
